Apartment Review
Worst landlord experience I've ever had
Review Date: 6/16/2010 Reviewer: Anonymous
If I could give negative stars, I would. I lived in this apartment building for 3 years and the landlord is the entire reason not to live here. Throughout my tenancy, I faced consistent resistance in resolving apartment problems. The first summer I lived here, the power partially went out (long, technical story) and I literally had to force them to contact the power company as the outside temperature soared above 100, and inside my apartment continued well over 80. That isn't even the worst of it. There was a clog in the main line of the apartment piping, causing my toilet and bathtub to overflow sewage into my apartment. While they did get a plumber to snake the drain that night, they proceeded to not only tell me they were not specifically planning to properly treat the flood. After speaking to flooding experts, I fought for 3 solid days to get the management to bring in professionals. EVEN Stanley Steamer said that by LAW they could not just clean a flood, the carpet needs to be replaced, and if not, then at the very least - sanitized, dried and shampooed. I had to live in an unsanitary apartment for a full week, with cardboard all over and having to wear shoes because I could potentially *catch something* from my own carpet. After things got back to normal, the apartment manager sent out an email, with all of our email addresses visible to the entire complex asking that someone admit they caused the clog, and threatening to raise the rent if no one copped to it. (no one admitted blame, and I know of one couple who threatened to involve a lawyer, and that seemed to get her to back off). They even managed to get a little elderly couple to contribute $75 to something they had nothing to do with. This woman is the worst landlord I have had in my life. They send out emails threatening to raise the rent, and even charged me $285 for a couple of *nail holes* in the living room when I moved out. I have talked to other tenants and they have all had horrible and similar experiences with her. We all agree that they never actually get the apartments cleaned between tenants, as we all had to scrub floors and bathrooms when we moved in. My apartment smelled like shrimp when I moved in. I know that if you see these apartments, you'll think they are cute, but if MG is still managing the complex - run away. fast. far. |
